Medical Evacuation Coverage – Flying Doctors (AMREF)

At WIPA Safaris, our clients’ safety and well-being are our top priorities. During safaris in Tanzania, we strongly recommend medical evacuation coverage through AMREF Flying Doctors, the leading air ambulance service in East Africa.

What Is Flying Doctors?

Flying Doctors provides emergency air medical evacuation services, specifically designed for travelers visiting remote areas such as national parks and wildlife reserves in Tanzania.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and ensures rapid evacuation to a suitable hospital in Tanzania or, if necessary, elsewhere in East Africa (such as Nairobi, Kenya).

What Is Covered?

  • Emergency air evacuation from remote safari locations
  • 24/7 emergency coordination
  • Medical assistance during the flight
  • Transfer to the most appropriate medical facility

What Is NOT Covered?

  • Hospital bills and inpatient treatment
  • Medical procedures, surgeries, and medications
  • Routine medical consultations
  • International repatriation to your home country (unless covered by your travel insurance)

Flying Doctors covers evacuation to a hospital, but does not cover hospital treatment costs.

Important Recommendation

WIPA Safaris strongly advises all travelers to purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes:

  • International medical coverage
  • Hospitalization coverage
  • Medical repatriation
  • Coverage for special activities (such as Mount Kilimanjaro trekking, if applicable)

Flying Doctors coverage should be considered an additional safety measure and not a replacement for full travel insurance.

If you would like WIPA Safaris to arrange this coverage as part of your safari package, please inform us at the time of booking.
